The booklet explains how the Long Playing Compact Disc works:
You are about to listen to a Compact disc from a new generation of CDs that makes it possible to double the listening time of mono recordings. At the present time, CD player have no automatic mono switch; therefore you should proceed manually as follow:
After putting your CD into the CD player, all you need to do is alter the balance control of your amplifier (first to the left, then, when you push the CD in again for the second part of the recording , to the right). You will thus only able to hear from one speaker at a time, first the left-hand one, then the right. However, it is now possible to get a mono adaptor (available commercially) which will anable you to listen to your long playing CD through both speakers at a time; you will thus have a reproduction of sound absolutely identical in quality to that of your other CDs on two speakers. With this new generation of CD, a single CD gives you more than 2.5 hours listening time.
