These recordings have been transferred to tape from transcription discs made in thirties for radio station use, and from transcriptions of live broadcasts in the forties. While every effort has been made for minimize imperfections, some surface noise remains. To have eliminated it completely would have been to distort the original sound characteristics of the instrument.
