2. Place: Barcelona. Venue: Apolo. Date: 02/06/94. Time: 21.00 PM. Occasion: Sonar festival. Instrumentation: TR 808, TB 303, MC 202, 4 tapedecks, 12ch mixing console, 1 SPX 90 effect processor, 1 DEP 5 effect processor.

For both gigs the same equipment was used, except in Barcelona I had to deal with a smaller mixing console. I was travelling with four audio cassettes, the TB 303 and the MC 202 only. The taperecorders as well as the 808's were supplied. Therefore I want to thank Victor Sol whose 808 I used in Barcelona and Dr. Motte whose 808 I used in Berlin. Both songs were mainly improvised, inspired by the loops the cassettes contained. Each cassette had one separate loop/sound on each channel. That makes eight independently playing sound sources. While these loops were constantly playing (muted or not) I was programming the sequencers and the rhythmbox. Depending on the venue, the audience, my mood or the vibes between the music, the audience and myself, the tracks could develop in different directions although they based on the same ideas and sounds. Both tracks had to be re-processed before mastering in order to get rid of some noise occuring from the effect processors or the mixing consoles. Especially the Berlin gig that was recorded with a S**y DAT contained several digital drop-outs that had to be removed by editing. I want to thank everybody who made these two gigs possible: Eric and Sergi, Victor, Angela and Alex in Spain. Uwe and Jürgen in Berlin. The audience, the technical staff and Morris on both gigs. All at Rough Trade, Delirium booking, Team K, Jörg and Arielle for the nice trip to the zoo.

This is a MACOS recording: be square! macos
