Recorded at the legendary Cypress Recording Studios in Jacksonville Beach, Florida - April 1996 by Dave Plummer.Belik was a legendary band from Jacksonville, Florida from 1994 - 1998 that emerged during the times of Sludge Metal & Grunge; incorporating sounds reminiscent of Bleach-Era Nirvana, Polvo, The Melvins, Mudhoney, Helmet, Tool, and more. Considered advanced for their time, they got lost in the grunge/sludge shadows during the times that Jacksonville bands Limp Bizkit and Grundig (now Cold) started their climb with the “new” sound. Belik eventually faded away, only to become a Jacksonville musical underground cult favorite and local legend that is still remembered today.
During their brief career, Belik has performed with bands such as The Subhumans, Yellowcard, Stuck Mojo, Nothing Face, FOC, Mystic Dino, Tree, Minutia, Happy Hour, Quad-City Players, Ringworm, Device, Tang Lung, Kudzu Ganja, and numerous others.
Belik's first album was recorded at the legendary Cypress Records Studios; which was also a staple for Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet, and served as a launching platform for Limp Bizkit, Yellowcard, Puddle of Mudd, Shinedown, Cold, and numerous others. They also performed there several times; as well as the now defunct Jacksonville Milk Bar. We can only hope that the remaining members Aaron Lumpkin, Kevin Lee Newberry. Michael Arnold, and Shawn Watchorn will reform and play a few shows for the fans.
