Summerset is the second full-length album released by Bellwethr. It was written and recorded from September to October 2022 entirely on a Tascam MF-P01 Portastudio four track recorder after the laptop being used for the planned second album died. This lo-fi approach and its inherent limitations were embraced as the album's sound and as a tool to convey the emotions present. Summerset explores an overall feeling of melancholy, from themes of anxiety and self doubt to the loss of loved ones. It sits in the realm of depressive black metal that has been explored by Bellwethr before, but takes it in a much more personal direction. It also takes influence from other genres, blending together sounds from genres such as raw black metal, post black metal, post rock, and shoegaze. Some artists that influenced the album include Hypothermia, Consider Suicide, Këkht Aräkh, Alcest, Have a Nice Life, Slowdive, and many more.
