This CD comprises the complete LP Ben & Sweets (Columbia, CS8691), the only quintet session fronted by Ben Webster and Harry “Sweets” Edison as a team. Also included here are all the existing alternate takes, appearing here for the first time on a single CD. As a bonus, all of the tracks featuring solos by Ben Webster from a very rare LP (RCA Camden, CAL 490) released under the leadership of guitarist Mundell Lowe. The album contains a selection of tunes from Gershwin’s “Porgy & Bess”, arranged by the superlative guitarist.
