Release part of the Decca CD series "Cinema Gala", compiling material from two previous original LP releases:- Bernard Herrmann, London Philharmonic Orchestra - Music From Great Film Classics, first released in 1970: Tracks 1 to 9 (the whole original album).
- Bernard Herrmann - The Mysterious Film World Of Bernard Herrmann, first released in 1975: Tracks 10 to 13.
Although uncredited, track 2 includes music from the score of Orson Welles' 1942 film "The Magnificient Ambersons" (tracks 1 to 4 are an adaptation of the symphonic suite "Welles Raises Kane", first recorded and released by Herrmann in 1968 in Bernard Herrmann, London Philharmonic Orchestra - Welles Raises Kane & The Devil And Daniel Webster (Suites), that included music from both films, "Citizen Kane" and "The Magnificient Ambersons").
