This 3CD set compiles Black Sabbath's first six studio albums (almost) in their entirety, but seven shorter instrumental tracks are excluded (see below for more information). The three CDs are housed in their own jewel cases, and fit into a cardboard slipcase. Also included is a 20-page booklet which details the history of the band.
Tracks 1-1 to 1-7 are from the self-titled album 'Black Sabbath', which was produced by Roger Bain and released by Vertigo on February 13th 1970. *Note that Tracks 1-6 & 1-7 ('Sleeping Village' and 'Warning') are split in an unconventional way on disc one. On many other versions of the album 'Black Sabbath', 'Sleeping Village' is 3:46 in length, but on 'The Ozzy Osbourne Years' track 1-6 is 10:44 long, because Track 1-6 also includes most of the music for the song 'Warning' (6:58). Track 1-7 on 'The Ozzy Osbourne Years' is the outro section of 'Warning' (3:33).
Tracks 1-8 to 1-13, plus 2-1 are from 'Paranoid', which was produced by Roger Bain and released by Vertigo on September 18th 1970. The instrumental 'Rat Salad' is not included on this compilation.
Tracks 2-2 to 2-7 are from 'Master Of Reality', which was produced by Roger Bain and released by Vertigo on July 21st 1971.
Track 2-4 is listed only as "Embryo", but is actually "Embryo" followed by the song "Children Of The Grave". The total length of Track 2-4 is 5:01. The instrumental 'Orchid' is not included on this compilation.
Tracks 2-8 to 2-15 are from 'Black Sabbath Vol 4', which was produced by Patrick Meehan/Black Sabbath and released by Vertigo on September 25th 1972. The instrumentals 'FX' and 'Laguna Sunrise' are not included on this compilation.
Tracks 3-1 to 3-7 are from 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath', which was produced Black Sabbath and released by Vertigo on December 1st 1973. The instrumental 'Fluff' is not included on this compilation.
Tracks 3-8 to 3-13 are from 'Sabotage', which was produced Black Sabbath/Mike Butcher and released by NEMS/Warner Bros./Vertigo on July 28th 1975. The instrumentals 'Don't Start (Too Late)' and 'Supertzar' are not included on this compilation.
