This record was produced and self-released in the context of a residency for « artists » organized and put out to tender by the social service of Geneva, Switzerland, called Hospice Général. The twenty-two laureates were asked to produce works in collaboration with people who frequented the social service infrastructure. A good half of the artists selected were themselves in precarious situations, surviving thanks to financial aid from the Hospice Général. This was the case for Shlomo, who was able to benefit from the Résidences Croisées program as a musician. For his residency, he set up a writing workshop in a leisure and activities center reserved for retired people. The texts of the participants would then be recorded and set to sound accompaniments composed by Bound By Endogamy.
Three women attended this workshop over five sessions between November 2022 and February 2023. Natercia, Marie-Christine and Nelly. In response to one of their requests, Shlomo proposed a work theme. The task was to write a letter to an unreachable person. A letter impossible to address or formulate. In the past, Bound By Endogamy had already composed two cathartic tracks whose function was to establish a form of communication impossible to achieve between two subjects.
The texts and tracks we have produced around this theme are presented as follows on the record :
Lettre à Madame Argand (Xanax).
Marie-Christine wrote this text to a sewing teacher who traumatized her as a child.
Lettre à Mon Chien Adoré.
Natercia wrote this text to her childhood dog. Her family abandoned him when they left Portugal. The dog was hit by a car and died the day he was abandoned.
Lettre à Madame Argand (Amphetamine).
(Lettre à) Tutor.
Kleio wrote this text posthumously to a dear friend who had committed suicide.
This remastered track originally appeared on the Devil Dancers compilation released on K7 by the record label Unrealistic Expectations in 2023.
Lettre à Lauren (Emotional Version).
Shlomo wrote this text to his threatening unemployment advisor, who was abusing her position of authority.
This remastered tune originally appeared as a bonus track on the digital version of Bound By Endogamy’s first Walk With A Tumored Dog 7’’, released by Lux Rec in 2021.
