Black Lantern Music are proud to present the third EP by hip-hop trio Burning Bright, comprised of veteran emcee Tickle, producer Salem Anders, and DJ Symatic. Their debut EP, Cherry Tree, was the fourth release on Black Lantern, and both Tickle and Salem Anders have been part of the BLM fam since the start. Tickle was a founder member of the Chemical Poets, the spoken word/rap/noise collective from whom the original BLM crew emerged. Salem Anders has produced for other Black Lantern artists such as Texture, while Symatic's cuts and scratches have featured on releases by a selection of our crew. Their jazzy, politicised brand of upfront hip-hop is infectious, witty and experimental. On their self-titled third EP, the trio present three tracks. Stardust is an instrumental cut, showcasing Salem Anders love of jazz and funk breaks. On One Big Tribe, Tickle calls out for unity in the face of political oppression and corruption, delivering an uplifting and positive, conscious message in his lyrics. On Rise Up, Scottish hip-hop megastar Solareye takes time out from his busy solo career and his work with Scotland's favourite hip-hop band Stanley Odd (recent winners of the Big Apple Award, which will see them perform at New York's legendary Bowery Ballroom) to deliver a tight verse, duelling with Tickle in rabble-rousing eights and sixteens.
An unmissable EP for fans of hip-hop, jazz, funk and conscious lyrics – look out for more projects featuring Tickle in 2013.
