A few years ago I stuck some things on the end of a metal stick, set fire to them and recorded what happened with a couple of contact mics pegged to the stick. Don't expect drama - these are mostly very quiet crackles, fizzes and crinkles, blanketed in the warm fuzz of electrical noise from the portable recorder.
