Facsimile of the basse-dance "Joyssance vous donneray" ("Vi donerò il piacere", "Ich were euch Frude verleihen", "I will give you joy") in the version appearing in Arbeau's Orchésographie (1589). The original song, without drum rhythm, is by Claudin de Sermisy (? 1490 - Paris 1562)
The treatise of Thoinot Arbeau (anagram of Jehan Tabourot, Dijon 1519 - Langres 1595ca), apparently dedicated to the art of dance, is a source for military music history. Thanks to it, the rarest examples of scores for drums still survive.
Limited to 800 copies.
