The self-released cd-r that started Chris' solo project, Captain Chaos

From the insert

Captain Chaos should not have happened.
This cdr you're holding, these twelve songs, are not intentional. i never thought, i want to play solo, i want to write some songs for a solo record. i have always, and still do, think that would be a bad idea. i don't like how i sound alone. i don't like being alone. Back in September of 2004 someone new moved to Bloomington. about 20,000 new people come to Bloomington every year, every September, but i really liked this one. we hung out every day, we stayed up late, we talked and danced. i felt inspired. i decided to write a song a day and record them daily as well, in one take. the first song was 11:11. i gave this song to my inspiration. she didn't have a tape player, so i gave her the song on tape, inside a cheap stereo that i got at the pawn shop. this was risky. i had only hung out with her for 4 days. she liked it. all things went well. fire works, flowers, moonlit bike rides etc. on day 4 i gave up on the song a day plan. it took too much of my time. i had soomthies (sic) to make, i had snacks to take to people at school. but there were times when my inspiration would leave town. when this happened i wrote and recorded songs. as a rule, i force myself to write the song completely before i put down the guitar. I want the songs to come form inside of me and flow out freely with no fear. when i record, i force myself to keep the first take that i get without stopping. you see these songs were written for one person only. im (sic) not sure if you hearing them is a good idea, but they are pounding on the walls inside of me. they want to get out. i guess i hope that the more people hear them, the more powerful they will become. i hope they cast a spell and bring back my lost inspiration. please listen carefully. please don't take me to (sic) serious. i think these songs are bad, cheesy, cliché -- sorry. i had to write them. they wrote themselves really. that said, thank you for listening.
