Searching for beauty is a book/album project resulting from ChâteauGhetto's 2017 residency in Johannesburg with their poet friend Gilles Furtwängler, as well as the many artists, musicians and poets-turned-friends they met there.This book comes with a Bandcamp download link although listening is also free on the Bandcamp link. This is a project of spoken-word and poetry interwoven with field recordings and ambient music. The whole suggests a wandering through the streets of Johannesburg, a tragedy, a certain theatricality, hence the idea of the cinematographic form. The book, for its part, deals with this idea of credits, laying flat this information and the chanted texts, thus creating an artistic object intermingling instrument names, street names, descriptions of sounds, transcriptions of conversations and poetic texts.
