This is a remarkable PROMO ONLY Lp that was sent to US radio stations in the winter of 1978. The band were breaking huge in Japan in Spring of ’78 and they recorded two concerts at the Nippon Budokan. Ten tracks taken from both shows were compiled and released as a live album entitled Cheap Trick at Budokan, which was released only in Japan.

On the strength of their single “Surrender” there was a demand among US fans for this Japanese album. To test the waters, this 7-song, single disc version was sent to radio, who started playing tracks, most notably “I Want You To Want Me.”

With increased airplay, Epic finally released Cheap Trick at Budokan in the U.S. in February 1979.
