Buckle Up For Chi was established to honor the memory of an amazing man whose life was tragically changed after he was involved in a car accident in which he was not wearing his seat belt. This campaign serves as a tribute to not only the legacy he left behind, but to the lives that will be saved because of seat belt awareness.

“Dai is a part of every single person everywhere. We are all one in the same.”
Thank YOU for being here with us, keeping his energy and spirit alive.

Buckle Up For Chi has always been blessed to keep Chi’s legacy alive and we strive to continue to do so with the launch of The HEAD UP Project. Through this initiative and our loyal community, we will continue to support each other, spread peace, music, love, and as always: FLY HIGH. We hold close and keep to the tenets that Chi stood for: caring, kindness, and empathy. We continue to honor those ideas, Chi’s legacy, and thank you all for being apart of The Buckle Up For Chi Community.

This spoken word show took place on January 4, 2001 at Café Paris located in downtown Sacramento, California. Chi’s band was on Christmas break. Jonah Matranga blessed us by opening up the show, followed by a belly dancer, which is something you don’t see every day. My brother Chi was set up on a table with a recording machine, PA and some candles. The live interaction between my brother and the sold out crowd is priceless. I will not fill your mind with additional spoilers but allow you to take it in and digest for yourself. This release is a gift to the world. Special thanks go out to mom for always being there for all of us. To my sister, for watching the door and being one of my best friends. Thanks to Dingo Dave for helping Chi record this.

Last but certainly not least, I am thankful for my brother most of all for being my best friend in this life. I said this at his funeral and I’ll say it again, Chi was the most Christ-like human being I’ve ever known and he never claimed to be a Christian. He was a Buddhist.

Nuff said, Buckle Up. Peace.
