Follow Suit Part 1 of 4 - Hearts

Storytelling Sonics. A time documented. Dictated by situation & location. Led by emotion. A long story.
Not the record that was planned but a lesson in allowing music to "grow and thrive", organically. Learning and accepting that this was the only record possible. Unpopular Love Songs.

Huge thanks to Barry & Trond for the chats and guidance through a difficult process.

Original sound sources from various Ciat-Lonbarde paper circuits panically recorded in Munich, over 2 days November 2020.
Edited and shaped in Belfast, between December 2020 and April 2021. With some overdubs using BJC builds of the same circuits.

April 30th 2021

At the time of writing the snow is dancing in slow motion outside my living room window. Tomorrow is the 1st of May. The last month of spring. Winter has a hard time letting go this year.

April has given us moments where the warm rays of sun has caressed our faces, the birds have been chirping in the trees and nature has seemingly woken up from its hibernation. Minutes later everything has been overshadowed by blinding white clouds and a thick blanket of snow falling down from the sky.

And yet again, the ground and the mountains has been draped in snow. But through it all, the birds keep on chirping. And when the sun breaks through the clouds, it’s heated rays will melt the snow, and once more breathes new life into nature.

As I sit here listening to «Winter Pines», I realise that the ever changing scenery outside is a perfect companion to the lovely sounds coming out of my speakers.

An album made in limbo. An album filled with Melancholic tones. Hope and Anticipation. Uncertainty, Joy, Frustration, and Love.

 A fragile beauty.

Guided by the sounds, a narrative unfolds in my mind. A story of love and longing. Laughter and tears. And waiting.

Like reading a good book, clear and vivid images appear.

Isn’t it interesting how tiny irregularity in nature, can have such an impact on a global scale?
James Gleick refers to this erratic side of nature as Chaos. And the aforementioned impact of this irregularity as 'The Butterfly Effect'. This side of nature is also the reason that the meteorologists of the world are unable to precisely predict the weather.

So I guess one could argue that the so called chaos and irregularities in nature (in the eyes of science), is the reason we are blessed with this wonderful ChromaDots tape? Well for that I am grateful. It is an exquisitely composed and executed album. My heart breaks a little bit every time I think about the King and Queen of hearts though. I sincerely hope they are reunited again soon.

Looking out through the window again. The snow is still falling. But there is a stream of sunlight breaking through the clouds.

Summer will come. Once again.
