This release has the same title and artwork as the original 1988 CD (CD CHESS 1003), although the reproduction of the front cover is of slightly inferior quality and the compilation's running order has some notable differences.

In comparison to CD CHESS 1003, three tracks have been excluded. Five tracks are alternate takes to those appearing on the aforementioned release (for example, here Johnny B. Goode has no lead guitar overdubs whilst CD 1003 uses the common version with overdubs). Some tracks have spoken intros, studio chatter or count-ins which don't appear on CD 1003 and two are alternate mixes. A couple also appear in true stereo whilst being mono on the earlier release.The remainder of the tracks on this CD are mono.

All tracks were recorded between 1955 and 1965.

This release has no barcode. Additional text on rear states; "This compilation ℗ 1991 Charly Records. A Planeta-Agostini release, under license of Barna Record Lab. Not for sale - attached to Rock",
