We don't have a lot of information about the Haitian band called "Claudette et Ti Pierre". The band has been created in 1977. Ulrick Pierre, compositor and keyboard player was blind since he was a child. He has learnt music at the St Vincent school for handicaped in Port-au-Prince.
They did many concerts in Guadeloupe, Martinique and French Guyana, and they also did two tours in Africa at the beginning of the 80's. This was very unusual for an Haitian band and this experience seems then to have a deep impact on their music.
They had released 10 albums between 1978 and 1990. Most of the lyrics are in Haitian Creole, and talk about love, everyday life, social issues, love for Haiti and for Africa.
Claudette Pierre Louis’s expressive voice, mixed with the virtuosi organ of Ti Pierre creates beautiful pop songs you can dance on.
Sadly, Ti Pierre died in 1991, killed during political troubles.
Claudette immigrated to Canada where she still live, she is now singing gospel.
I did a choice in the songs of Claudette et Ti Pierre to show different faces of their music.
Hope you will like them like I do. Your friend, sincerely, Kikifruit.
