In the knowledge that the first album of hymns recorded under the title 'BORN IN SONG' has received such a very warm welcome and that copies of it have gone literally all over the world, I am very happy, as Chairman of the Cornwall District of the Methodist Church, to be associated with this second album. It will appeal to the many who admire the fine singing of these two Cornish choirs and to the large number of Cornish people living away from their native county. To them and perhaps to others it will bring back happy memories of the worship of former days in town and country chapel and of old friends who shared their worship. But perhaps even more important, the words of these hymns, old though most of them are, will have great relevance for those who listen to them and ponder their meaning. Hymn after hymn expresses the joy of the Christian in his present experience of God's love, his sense of wonder at the miracles of grace wrought by God in human lives, and his desire to share this experience with others. Some of the hymns are really prayers for God's abiding presence in time of need, for His guidance and forgiveness, and for peace. The contents of the Methodist Hymn Book are drawn from many centuries and from many denominations of the Christian Church, for the gospel is too big to be entirely contained or realised except by the whole Church of Jesus Christ. So I believe that these hymns will have a universal appeal and that this record, like its predecessor, will bring joy, comfort, and inspiration to individuals and groups in Cornwall, in the rest of the United Kingdom, and far beyond our shores. -- THE REV. A. BERNARD FRANKLIN, B.A.

The first BORN IN SONG was released late in 1972 and had an immediate impact. Cornishmen, and non-Cornish-men alike, at home and throughout the world, listened with deep emotion to great Methodist hymns sung by two fine choirs under the masterly direction of Edgar Kessell. And your letters came in, and kept coming in, until we had to produce this second volume. A very talented young man, George Smith, now directs the Climax choir and, by arrangement and for the purposes of making this record, also takes the Mabe Ladies choir as they combine once more for another album of wonderful singing. We welcome The Rev. A. Bernard Franklin, the new chairman of the Methodist Church, Cornwall District, and thank him for his immediate response in helping us produce 'BORN IN SONG'.
