Orisun is Colonel Pepito's debut album. Composed between 2013 and 2015, it draws on the hypnotic timelessness of Chicago house and the soft nuances of balearic beats. Colonel Pepito's tracks are like little toys that bounce faithfully against the walls, as favourable to dancing than to napping. The colours are bright and shimmering, they find their balance with the sobriety of the composition. Polychrome synths and peaceful drum machines: this is what Orisun is made of. In the middle, there is some air, enough space for the scent of sun-filled vegetation to evaporate, while we protect our eyes from the sun, with the firm intention of doing nothing at all.

Regarding of tutelary figures, the album draws on Dennis Bovell's bouncy and joyful melodies and on Wally Badarou and Ryuichi Sakamoto’s work on synthesizer textures. More generally, electronic music from West and South Africa, such as highlife, bubblegum, and afrobeat are direct influences. Ultimately, Orisun was born from images: tropical nature, riverside games, Nigerian megacities seen from a child point of view, huge markets and bus rides. It’s the musical synthesis of imagined emotions.
