From www.djshadow.com:
“Skratchcon” was a week long DJ/Turntablism convention curated by the Invisibl Skratch Piklz, which occurred in San Francisco in the summer of 2000. When Shadow and Cut Chemist were asked to perform “Brainfreeze” at the closing expo, the guys suggested recreating “Lessons 1-4” instead, which they did with the help of Steinski .
However Shadow was also informed that there was extra time available if he wanted to do anything else, sort of as a bonus to keep the crowd’s attention between acts. Figuring it would be a rare chance to exhibit some simple, good old-fashioned club spinning, Shadow put this set together at home several days before hand, and recorded the final rehearsal.
Shadow did perform most of this set live at Skratchcon while Cut and Stein were setting up, but had to abort before the end due to time constraints. This set was also edited out of the Skratchcon videotape, as it wasn’t really intended for consumption beyond its immediate purpose of moving the crowd between acts. It is nonetheless a rocking set, exhibiting a fine balance between showmanship and mix cohesiveness.
