Volume 2 of the Gaia Música serie, a Celebration of overlapping cultures and recreated in a
contemporary context. Now Morocco and Brazil.
Chronology of interest. DJ Tudo already knew the cultural wealth of Morocco. But it was in 2007, during a conversation with the Rainha das 7 Encruzilhadas, spiritual guide of Umbanda, that all roads have started to lead him in that direction. In 2009, at an artist residency in London, DJ Tudo worked with bassist and producer Dr. Das from the group Asian Dub Foundation, who gave him the gift of a guimbre, an instrument used in rituals from Gnawa of Morocco. In 2009, DJ Tudo went to Senegal to play with the singer Ligiana and met Moroccan producer Ghita Khaldi. The following year, in Brazil, he met the Moroccan musician Mehdi Nassouli - and that's how he got to know more in addition to Morocco, a real cultural crossroad. For about 800 years, the Iberian Peninsula was a Moorish region. "Moor" is a term used by the Europeans to define the Arabs in the Middle Ages, who left the region forever in 1498 and went to Morocco and other parts of North Africa. Thus, Morocco and Brazil have a common heritage: people are brothers. There are several instruments that reflect the legacy of this era, such as zabumba, pandeirão and gaitas. DJ Tudo also believe that some Brazilian dances such as fandango and catira can be linked to these cultural heritages.

Gaia Musica vol.2 connects Brazil and Morocco connect in a powerful encounter. The aim is to break stereotypes and provoke a fresh look at the rich culture of Arab peoples, with knowledge and respect. A warm meeting between 'umbanda' spiritual music from Brazil and 'gnawa sufi' music from Morocco.
