Dorchester Projects, founded by Theaster Gates, artist and urban planner, is a community development organisation on Chicago's Southside that cultivates cultural arts programming though supporting local artists and giving everyday people the opportunity to access culture and arts experiences in venues outside of traditional "arts" institutions.

Chicago composer and saxophonist, David Boykin, was invited to be an artist in Residence at Dorchester Projects with the charge of activating the space, engaging neighbours, and creating an original piece of work representing his time at Dorchester.
The David Boykin Trio held seven open rehearsals, and this recording is the result of their experience in a place where art community, and space converge.
