The CD was first made available at "David Ford's Christmas Bonus" (that year's version of the annual Milk & Cookies event) at Bush Hall, London on 19 December 2011. It was formally released on 15 January 2012.

This EP followed Ford 4.1 and Ford 4.2 in showcasing possible material for Ford's 4th album. "The Ballad Of Miss Lily" and a new arrangement/recording of "Every Time" made it onto Charge in 2013.
