What is it? A finger exercise? An acoustic journey? A fragmented masterpiece?In any case it is a record, on which a graphic designer put the name DIDI KERN in large letters.
The 20 pieces on it are miniatures that guide us to the most varied places – as field recordings, percussive compositions and superpositions of both:
Up the grandfather`s creaking stairs, straight through a Mexican market, over a snoring fellow traveller, you can hear a drum dialogue with the rain. After a quick detour to New Orleans, a lamenting woman in the New York subway predicts the end of the world, a bee passes by, a dubious conductor comments on the trip and the composer puts an abrupt end to the journey.
Why elliptical? Because it isn´t a perfect circle but eventually ends where it began: down the grandfather`s stairs.
