Album Info

Release Date: 1985

Label: Boni Records

Uncredited cover version of 'Het Zeilbergs Volkslied', a national anthem that Jan van Ooij wrote at the beginning of the sixties for his birthplace Zeilberg, a hamlet in the municipality of Deurne in the east of Noord-Brabant.

Numerous variants were sung, some of which appeared on a record, such as in 1984 on a single by the Sound Selection as Wiekens Volkslied and in 1985 by De Dekker Band as Volendammer Volkslied. The Tongers Volkslied was also released on a self-published CD.

For some versions, the copyrights were not pre-arranged with Van Ooij. One of them was the version of the Volendammer Vollkslied. Van Ooij found out about this when one evening he watched the television program Op Volle Toeren, where De Dekker Band performed this almost identical version of his song without his permission.
