Dead Moon: Test Pressing of Unused Version of Double LP for The Book by Dead Moon

Artists

Album Info

Release Date: 2018-09-03

Label: Mississippi Records

Double LP test pressing.
This is a test press of the ORIGINAL track listing for the records that came with the Dead Moon book. This first try featured 8 songs per side, making it too quiet for release, so it only exists as a test press. For the released version, we redid the track list - eliminating 4 songs total. The four songs on this version and not the released are - I Hate The Blues, Running Scared, Ricochet and Too Many People. The tracks on this test press are also in a very different order than the released version.
There are only 4 of these test pressings with this alternate track listing and it has never been released this way in any other form, making this a truly rare Dead Moon item.
This copy comes in a black sleeve with two original photos of the band from their earliest days. The front photo of Fred is from Dead Moon's first or second show and was published in the DM book. The back photo of Toody and Andrew has never been published before and is awesome! I wrote "Dead Moon" in toothpaste above the Fred Photo and dried it in the sun. I wanted to use white out or white paint, but had none in the house, so I improvised in true Dead Moon fashion. I've been told htis toothpaster font will turn to dust in time, so it is up to you to re-toothpaste it once in awhile...or. I could go over it in white paint if you would prefer.
This is a true edition of 4 copies! Plays a bit quiet and has some slight crackle on it, but still sounds great overall and is a weird artifact. Part of why I redid the track listing was due to the quietness of the vinyl and part was because it came in right when Fred died and I suddenly felt like I had to redo the sequence to be more of a "life story" kinda narrative. Still, this O.G track list is of interest....and the song "Running Scared" is a hard one to find on vinyl.
