Sides 1-3 were recorded in February, 1971, London.Sides 1-2 were originally released by Incus in 1971, with the catalog number Incus 2 as Solo Guitar; sides 1 and 3 with the catalog number Incus 2 (R) as Solo in 1978. (NOTE: this is printed in the inside gatefold but it was actually sides 2 and 3, not sides 1 and 3 that were previously released as Incus 2 (R), Solo.)
Side 4 is the previously unissued recording of a performance at York University in February 1972.
For this edition, the original tapes were newly transferred at Abbey Road. It was mastered and cut by Rashad Becker at D & M, and pressed at Pallas.
Derek Bailey playing two guitars at the same time (not double-tracked) on track B3 'The Squirrel and the Ricketty-Racketty Bridge'.
Includes custom one-side die cut inner sleeves (one printed and the other plain white). Disc one inner sleeve printed with a handwritten letter from Misha Mengelberg dated 1/4/71. Also includes folded facsimile of original Incus insert containing credits and Derek Bailey's liner notes.
