The Girl Who Was... Death by Devil Doll

Album Info

Release Date: 1988

Label: Hurdy Gurdy Records

Original edition featuring the 'Intro' and 'Outro' - the ‘Intro’ was taken straight from the opening cue of the tv-series The Prisoner on which this album is loosely based. The ‘Outtro’ is a Devil Doll-recording.

The matrix of this first pressing features various different hand-scratched messages from Mr Doctor on both side A and side B. The record was pressed by the Jugoton pressing plant, hence this pressing is sometimes contributed to Jugoton records, rather than Hurdy Gurdy records.

A total of 500 copies were pressed of which 150 were distributed at a live show and the remaining 350 destroyed by Mr Doctor.

The album comes in gatefold cover sleeve and every copy includes unique inserts, some handmade, mostly referring to The Prisoner. Even though the cover of the first pressing is identical to the second pressing, original copies can be identified by the different matrix numbers, the unique matrix messages and different labels. Aditionally, the 'Intro' and 'outtro' were omitted from the second pressing and subsequent CD-releases. Both pieces can, however, be found on the 1993 planned re-release, of which 200 copies were pressed, but all copies were withdrawn when MrDoctor decided to the re-release the album without the ‘Intro’ and ‘Outtro’.
