Album Info
Release Date: 1991Label: Nuclear Blast
Recorded March 1991.Different master:
This version of the album (matrix/runout NB 047 P+O-9309-A1 06-91) has a different master than all other 1991 versions and a much better dynamic range (see https://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/71185 as opposed to https://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/66744). The three versions with the matrix/runout NB 047 P+O-9309-A1 08-91 are mastered twice as loud. They are often erroneously described as first pressings, although they are, in fact, later pressings, as the last two digits of the matrix indicate 08-91 rather than 06-91. The present version is the only true first CD pressing.
Different CD artwork:
The non-playing side of the disc has a black-and-white design with orange printing, which distinguishes it from two of the three later 1991 versions. If you want to be sure it's the first pressing, however, you have to additionally look out for the matrix/runout (see above), as there is one repress that has the same CD design: https://www.discogs.com/Dismember-Like-An-Ever-Flowing-Stream/release/5558197.
As of 2023-01-27 this release shares its mastering with a digital release "Like An Everflowing Stream (1991 Master)" available on streaming platforms (Apple Music, Deezer, Qobuz etc.) as well as on digital purchase/download platforms (Qobuz, 7digital etc.). The latter offers this mastering in 24 bit/44.1 kHz resolution. Even though it's explicitly stated (by the band) to be the same mastering, the DR-values of each track differ slightly (circa +/- 1 dB) between the two releases.
