Lo-fi hip hop on a lush bed of rich synth arrangements, Dominic Pierce's Over Xtra is 6 songs and meditations produced with three of Roland’s most popular samplers — SP-202, SP-303, and a SP-404sx, as well a Korg DW 8000. Featured on this mini-album are Chicago’s Sports Boyfriend, who’s unprocessed vocals elevate Back In and Don’t Tell Me into bijou pop songs, and the enterprising young rapper Rhakim Ali who’s rhymes on il Sorpasso affirm Over Xtra’s unique and strong style in a lo-fi genre normally saturated with youtube jazz samples.
