Release Date: 2024-11-01Label: Underground Music
This release was originally slated for 2021. Licensed from New York Haunted.Limited 200 copies.
I was introduced to this digital release on New York Haunted by a colleague back in 2021. It immediately struck me as one of the most incredibly releases I had heard for many years. Well deserving of a vinyl release. So I contacted the label and arranged to licence the 4 tracks for a limited edition 12" vinyl. Originally slated for release in 2021 but due to pressing plant problems the release got shelved for a later release date. So here we are in late 2024 and the amazing "star field" limited edition vinyl arrived at the doors of Underground Music.
DO NOT ADJUST YOUR SPEAKERS. This release is the most brutal distorted, overdriven, audio assault you may have ever experienced. Testament to this fact are the calls I got from the mastering engineer. " I think there is something wrong with these files" he opined. I assured him that was how it was supposed to sound. The next call was from the pressing plant. After running off the white labels the engineer called me and said. "Sorry to bother you Simon but I think there is an issue with this release". Once again I assured the engineer it was fine and to go ahead. I have put out some extreme music over the last 30+ years but none of them elicited calls from people like this.
Here is what New York Haunted had to say about the release.
"Young North African producer Driss Hachim discovered acid not so long ago via an old cdr containing (I think) UR's Acid Rain and was happy to find his old cracked Reason setup has all the tools he needed to create some of his own. Our communication was a bit tough since he speaks almost no English, but we sorted through it and got these 4 cuts together as his debut EP for NYH!
Highly distorted and saturated heavy duty acid bangers that work infectious in their drive and drum programming. Peak hour blinders that are viscous and powerful beyond any modern acid I've heard in a long time. There is only this. No overdubs, no vocals, no strings or pads, nothing but a drum machine and a monosynth pushed in the red. And just to be clear: these tracks have been mastered from an mp3 and Driss gets 100% of the money we make when you buy this one..."
