Track 2: "Spaces was born from a progression I wrote on an old Farfisa purchased truly in Nowhere, Indiana. We spent a lot of time trimming the 'fat' from this one, bringing the song down to its most primal structure. It's something the band is making an effort to do more and more with our new music. Stripping the layers away and allowing the beats and propulsive elements a chance to move to the forefront."
Track 3: "This is another Farfisa number. This one's undergone a few changes since our Daytrotter session. I love all the wah and phaser on this version, has a little bit of psych flavor. There's a vocal line here I love...'In my house I know your ghost.' I always think of our friend Evan Farrell when that line comes around."
Track 4: "For some reason this song has kind of a 50's flavor to me. It's a love song, which may be a first for Early Day Miners. I love singing with Daun Fields...she really shines on this track! The lyrics are about falling in love when the weather's bad. 'Sweater Autumn Lull' might be a better name for this one."
Track 5: "This is an improvisational piece we wrote on the spot. 'Milking the Moon' is a title lifted from a book of memoirs by Eugene Walter, a charismatic actor, poet, and activist from my hometown of Mobile, AL. You might remember him as the American journalist from Fellini's 8 1/2."
