The music for Civil War was recorded in the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, NY, in December 1960 and May 1962; the battle sounds and other special effects were recorded in Gettysburg, PA, in October 1960 and at West Point, NY, in December 1960. All were recorded on 3-track 35mm films and 3-track half-inch tape, using 3 Telefunken 201 microphones.
