This Georgian instrumental music album was recorded together with virtuosos of Georgian folklore, the legendary band Egari.

This music was composed as the soundtrack for Leonid Parfyonov’s documentary In Qvevri Veritas. The film is dedicated to the traditional Georgian winemaking, surely, we couldn’t do without Georgian music. We recorded 13 tracks, including folk tunes from various regions and corners of Georgia, as well as my own compositions.

We decided to stick to a traditional sound without using any contemporary instruments, despite the fact that I specialize in bass guitar. At the same time, there are a lot of innovations on the album. For example, Nanila is a lullaby sung in the mountains of Svaneti, but Egari reworked the original melody and came up with a new instrumental arrangement. And for that we thank Aleko Khizanishvili, an outstanding musician, multi-instrumentalist, keeper of tradition and my Chonguri guru. He recorded most of the instrumental parts on this album.

We are happy that this music continues its life as an independent album.

Very little has been said about Georgian, and more broadly about Caucasian, music on the world stage, and that makes it especially interesting for listeners, performers, and researchers of music.
