Album Info

Release Date: 1991

Label: Ear-Rational Records

"Twistmap" composed in January of 1991, is a set of shifting terrains for the Soldier String Quartet to navigate. All structural elements are through-composed with improvisation yielding selected areas of transformation as well as solos for all players.
"Shapeshifters" is a soundtrack to an imaginary werewolf (or possibly other were-thing) film. Also composed in January of 1991, it uses core melodic and rhythmic material to serve as the catalytic surface for the Quartet's actions.
"Ferrous" a "detrious symphony", was composed for a five-person version of Carbon using only instruments designed/built by the composer. It was premiered at the Knitting Factory's Handmade Instrument Festival in November 1989 with the composer conducting and performing on pantar.
"String Of Strings" an improvisation to manipulate samples of slabs: overtone loops, hammered grooves, slides, boings, hits, scrapes and rumbles.

Recorded and mixed at Baby Monster Studio, May 18/ June 13 1991
