In order to understand this work of mine, you will want to look at a publication, specifically that one includes S.V.Šereševskij words, reported in the well-known Russian researcher Lurija book “The Mind of a Mnemonist”; Šereševskij in one of his many talks with Lurija expressed himself as follows: «How yellow and friable your voice is. There are persons who seem to have many voices that almost produce a musical composition, a bouquet of sounds…». This may be the starting point to understand the second suite included on this album. The monastic choirs main material was recorded at the St.Benoit French Cathedral, then electronically processed through special filters, modulated with low frequency oscillators or manipulated with magnetic tape technique. All the sounds you can hear in «Exultet» have been generated by the human voice and, except for some short insertion of concrete sounds, music haven’t been played by any keyboard devices but it’s been created processing electronically the Christian monks chants. It’s undeniable we find ourselves facing a work that tries, and maybe it’s able, to succeed in turning the sound into something else and this one into a sound, a synaesthesia that connects to different concepts of psychology.Released April 1, 2008.
