Enrique Lazaga Varona: Outstanding Cuban musician. He is currently the most recognized Cuban "güirero" at national and international level. He is a Professor of Cuban Percussion and Popular Orchestras at the Amadeo Roldán Music Conservatory.

He has been nominated for a Grammy Award three times, including for the CD Tremenda Rumba con Maraca y su otra Visión. Currently, in addition to working with La Charanga de Oro, he performs internationally with the group Afro Cubans All Stars, sharing percussion with the masters Changuito and Tata Güines. He has also participated in the recording of all the CDs of the Buena Vista Social Club Project and in recordings by: Afro Cubans All Stars, Orquesta Anacaona, Conjunto Casino, Orquesta Riverside, Maracas, Yumurí y sus Hermanos and Cachao. The recording production of the Orquesta Ritmo Oriental has included the presence of this musician who, since 1958, has been with this group and who directs it. This orchestra is a typical Cuban charanga, which started at the time of the greatest explosion of Cha Cha Chá. It was the first orchestra founded by Elio Revé in 1956, and which he left in 1958 due to disagreements with the musicians, leaving the charanga without direction. It was then that Enrique Lazaga appeared to take over the direction of the charanga and they decided to change its name to the Ritmo Oriental Orchestra. Relevant musicians have passed through it, among whom are: Pedrito Calvo, Tony Calá and David Calzado. Ritmo Oriental does not stop, it rescues its traditions and goes with the wave of the new times.
