Sittin' On A Rainbow by Ferlin Husky

Artists

Album Info

Release Date: 1958

Label: Capitol Records

The original MONO release of this title, as here, has twelve tracks, while the original STEREO release has only eleven. (The STEREO release omits 'I Love You [For Sentimental Reasons]', whose lead vocal, interestingly, doesn't sound like it's by Ferlin Husky) . On the MONO release, 'Blue Skies' is B1 and 'I'm Sittin' On Top Of The World' is B4, but on the STEREO issue, they are reversed.

It's probable that the STEREO and MONO versions were recorded simultaneously on January 3rd 1958, but probable that the MONO version was issued first in May 1958, with the STEREO issue arriving at least a couple months later (no earlier than July 1958 when Capitol's STEREO line debuted, but no later than September 1959, when 'LONG PLAYING HIGH FIDELITY' was dropped from the catalog's label design). Schwann catalogs acknowledge the MONO release in their May 1958 issue, but do not acknowledge a tandem STEREO issue until mid-1959 - but Schwann Catalogs can be unreliable, so the STEREO issue may be assumed released on or about July 1958 pending more information.
