Original Japan-for-U.S. Andante CD reissue, released contemporaneously with Franz Liszt, Varujan Kojian, Utah Symphony Orchestra - Symphony No. 2 "Dante" [VCD 47207], of the original Andante LP configuration (AD 72401), featuring a "Minimal Microphone" Soundstream 1981 digital recording, by the Utah Symphony Orchestra and the Utah Chorale, conducted by Varujan Kojian. This release features the previously unavailable "Alternate Ending" as either a programmable option, or instead as an afterthought heard after the completion of the two standard movements. The release also features an eight-page booklet with liner notes by Jonathan Schiller (augmented by Fred Low & Tom Null), a brief technical note concerning the recording, and color front and back covers, the former featuring a reproduction of a fresco by Luca Signorelli entitled "The Damned Cast Into Hell," and the latter featuring an explanatory note concerning the "Alternate Ending." (In an unusual touch, the back of the inlay card features a brief biographical note about the conductor, instead of the usual track listings.)This Soundstream digital recording was made direct to two-channel in Salt Lake on June 29 and 30, 1981.
