Album Info

Release Date: 2020-04-18

Label: Madlib Invazion

After the original release Piñata in 2014, the “Pinata ’64” idea was designed by Piñata cover artist Jeff Jank strictly as a concept: “50 years anniversary in the past.” Around the same time, artist Pathetic Pixels created his own personal version of Piñata as an early 70s Blaxploitation movie poster. Both designs were only existed in the digital realm until being prepared for release on Record Store Day.

The ’64 and ’74 editions are a single LP edit of Piñata lacquered at half speed master by Metropolis Mastering in London for the highest fidelity. The Rappcats version (’64) is housed in a Blue Note-themed cover, a thick, old school “tip-on” jacket, and is exclusive to this site. The Record Store Day version (’74) will be available at all participating retailers on April 18, 2020 whenever Record Store Day is rescheduled. Both editions will be offered once and not repressed.
