Gautam Dasgupta, a young and versatile musician from Delhi has distinguished himself as a soloist both on the Hawaiian and Spanish guitars. Gautam has lately shot into the limelight with lively and haunting instrumental versions of filmi hits. However, his debut as a soloist dates back to 1976 and since then he has been performing to captive audience in the capital.
A less known facet of Gautam's career is his virtuosity as a composer. No less an artist than Hemant Kumar has sung to his tunes besides his innumerable assignments for Doordarshan, Films Division and the stage.
Sine the middle of 1985 when Super Cassettes Industries launched him on the national scene, he has notched up eight volumes of instrumental versions of old and new Hindi film hits which have been very popular.
