Recut edition with new lacquer cut to solve issues present with the initial, withdrawn edition. This edition can be distinguished by the presence of "A2" in the runout on side A.On April 12, 2021, Gearbox Records issued the following statement:
"After carrying out tests last week, we have decided to push back the *vinyl* release date of Graham Costello's Second Lives album. Due to a combination of factors the pressing is not up to usual standard especially on low-compliance cartridge turntables."
Subsequent announcements from the label and artist indicated that a corrected vinyl edition would eventually be released "in the summer". Nevertheless, an unknown number of flawed copies were in fact shipped to preorder customers in late March, 2021, well in advance of the album's previously-scheduled May 7 release date (THIS).
Track A1 title appears simply as "အစ" on sleeve, but as "အစ ('a ca)" on center label.
Release credits state "cut by Caspar Sutton-Jones", but side B runout includes "DAZ" etching, indicating a Darrel Sheinman cut.
From Graham Costello's liner notes: "...this is a fully analogue record - a computer hasn't touched it. You hear full takes and practically zero overdubs"
Selected insert text:
Recorded and mixed directly to analogue tape. Mastered using Decca valve equalisation and Telefunken U73b compression and limiting. Cut on a Haeco Scully lathe with Westrex RA1700 series amps, Westrex 3DIIA cutting head.
