Album Info

Release Date: 2013

Label: Graven Records

Lo and behold, after years of power-pop distorto-melodica, 'Feel Real' promises to be the most interpersonal Graven album to date. Matty has stripped back the layers, and at times, added a few more - but this record focuses on poetic lyrics, childlike innocence, my Ottawa valley upbringing, reminiscing, the scary future, compromise, and the hard and sad truth of everything else in between. It's a mash up of some songs that were supposed to work for a folk album called 'Cottage Rock' (which never really cut the sonic mustard) but smashed together with many other new and more sonically and spiritually daring tracks. Some of the tunes feature Brendan Lorimer and Ben Gresik on various swampy, plucky instruments - but a lot of it is just me; Unfettered and almost like Jon Brooks and Bruce Springsteen sitting down for tea with Billy Corgan in Joel Plaskett's house.
