From an email from "Los Angles" (paraphrased):

"The blank transparent tapes ( High School Drama Teacher - Night Of Terror「成人専用」 ] ) was of the original tapes we had from when we started out. The white tapes came about simply because the transparent black ones were in high demand at the time and our supplier ran out. Since white matched more of the art than transparent black, we decided to make that our new default.

There's a few benefits for the white tapes, but the biggest one was the custom lengths, so the white cassettes are only about 15 mins per side while the transparent black ones being 45 mins."
