Album Info

Release Date: 2017-11-17

Label: Phantom Limb

Description from Bandcamp: Hirola comprises Bristol-based producers LTO (formerly of acclaimed electronic outfit Old Apparatus, and a highly respected solo artist in his own right) and edapollo (signed as a solo act to Bad Panda and Svnset Waves). Their music together is entrancing. More expressive and human than straight computer music, much more obfuscate and abstract than pop music, Hirola’s debut offering has strength enough to scale multiple peaks.

Description from Bleep: Hirola are a new act emerging out of Bristol made of one part edapollo and one part former Old Apparatus members LTO. The group’s self-titled first release sees them channelling the creme de la creme of 2010s indietronica - Bonobo, The xx, that sort of thing. Tracks like ‘Fields’ ebb and flow with the sort of emotive electronic pop stylings that have become ubiquitous in recent years, though Hirola’s unique trick is to marry these sing-songs with the sort of expansive atmospherics and cavernous bass befitting an act hailing from the same city as Massive Attack. They are also adept at stripping away the drums and leaning heavily on feel, as they do for much of ‘Hollow’.
