"The music on this CD was recorded from 24 to 25 March 2012 at Exploratorium Berlin after two workshops with 10 to 11 year old children with no previous instrumental experience, each workshop lasting a week (from 28 February to 4 March 2011 and from 19 to 23 March 2012). We played, listened and learned about improvising all day, the children having been released from other duties to do so.
These workshops, especially the second one in 2012, were very meaningful for me. It was a human experience at the highest level: musically, intellectually, socially and spiritually. The attention given to the music and among each other in the group, the quality of concentration, the friendship and the inkling of a utopian society led to an amazing experience that is rare enough in life. This work stimulates questions and thoughts about music and improvisation, about learning processes, methods and pedagogical models in improvisation, about education and human society."
