James Brown III: various household appliances and fans, guitars, keyboards, noise and effects

WARNING: this music was designed to be played in the background. Paying attention or listening directly is not recommended.

This new solo album features over an hour of soft white noise and ultra-minimal ambient drone, created using household appliances and fans with keyboard, guitar, various noises and sound FX. As a tinnitus sufferer myself I wanted to be able to sit in a quiet space without being distracted by the incessant ringing in my ears. So I got the idea to record some white noise to play in the background. I think we have an instinctual affinity for white noise and low rumbling drone; perhaps that was what the outside world sounded like to us while we were in our mother's womb. At any rate I find these recordings to be hypnotic and comforting, and can even induce forms of auditory hallucinations such as rhythmic pulses, distant melodic tones and even unintelligible dialogue. I hope you will find this experiment of mine intriguing, engaging, and perhaps even useful.
