Album Info

Release Date: 1999-10

Label: FatCat Records

Withdrawn on 11 October after Stefan Betke informed the label that the B-side was neither recorded nor authorized by him. FatCat recalled a bulk of 200 pressed copies from its distributor SRD and radio pluggers; only 30 to 40 copies exist.

According to a press statement from 26 October '99, FatCat Records initially suspected V/Vm duo pulled the prank, with rumors that Andy McGregor bootlegged Pole's concert in New York, USA. The label also speculated that the B1 track title ("Beast," or "Animal Hijack" in English) referred to Andy's moniker Animal. However, Stefan clarified these were just badly manipulated and cheaply sampled older Pole tracks. Andy and Jim categorically denied involvement and complained that someone had been pulling similar pranks on V/Vm around the time. Despite the label's claims that Pole had produced a legitimate replacement track and 'Split Series #8' would be released "early spring 2000," the resulting 12FAT024-X 12" featured Pimmon on the reverse, not Pole.
